Caleb D. Asher

As Deputy Secretary of Workforce Services for the Kansas Department of Commerce, Caleb Asher leads the state’s workforce system in its mission to provide workforce solutions to Kansas businesses and job candidates. Asher believes in the importance of approaching the state’s workforce needs as a team, partnering with Commerce staff and other state agencies, state and Local Workforce Investment Boards, businesses and postsecondary education and training.

Prior to becoming Deputy Secretary, Asher served as the Senior Director of Operations and Marketing at Commerce. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of the agency, he was responsible for promoting the state as a great place to live, work and play by overseeing the state’s image campaign, tourism and other strategic marketing efforts. Asher was also involved in branding the state’s workforce system – KANSASWORKS.

He began his career in state government at the Kansas Department of Labor and went on to work at Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services and the Kansas Department of Administration prior to joining the Commerce team.

Asher is involved in the Topeka community, is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators and serves as the alternate to the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) Region VII delegate.
