Center for Economic and Business Analysis

Formed with the creation of the Policy Research Institute in 2000, CEBA research focuses on state and local economic development, economic impact analysis, economic modeling, and tax research.

Economic Modeling

Through a systematic program of basic research, IPSR has developed a comprehensive modeling capacity which includes several models.

  • The national and state econometric models provide the basis for short-run forecasting on economic conditions, with the state model offering the most detailed information available on the Kansas economy.

  • Simulation models include a tax impact model for assessing and comparing the impact of alternative tax structures on Kansas business sectors and a cost-benefit model to assess property tax abatement decisions by local communities.

  • An input-output/social-accounting matrix model assesses the longer-term impact of changing public policies or economic conditions.

  • The Return on Public Investment model, assesses the impact of technology programs and policies undertaken by the public sector.

Modeling applications are available to the public on a contract basis.

Center for Research in Entrepreneurial Activity (CREA)

The KU Center for Research in Entrepreneurial Activity (CREA) promotes high caliber research on entrepreneurial activity in Kansas and the surrounding region that will contribute both to scholarly understanding of the issues surrounding the extent and nature of entrepreneurial activity and suggest policy actions and interventions to encourage entrepreneurial initiatives.
